Gratitude 3 Hoots

courtesy brynj

I was woken up by a strange noise this morning. At first I thought it was the buzz of a phone or alarm, but it was too random, yet even. So I sat up and listened. It was the hooting of an owl. I snuck outside and listened to the deep, bassoon tones of the bird, not far from me, high in a tree, and I smelled the slight scent of skunk in the air. Drowsy, I wondered if it was calling out it’s own nighttime song as I was waking or sending out an announcement to it’s neighbors that a fuzzy smelly friend was on the town.
