Must Reads 10/26/12

We’ll take a pause in the ongoing spirituality posting to note that as of this moment, I am on a plane to Sin City for a conference. Seems like a reasonable balance of things.

In the meantime, here are some links for your reading enjoyment.

Someone things the Hadron Collider will end the world. That’s what any good science fiction writer would say.

Prisons. Not good.

Change.org is apparently going conservative. Or at least that’s what I hear.

In Texas, Senator Carona is one of the first Republicans to support gay rights.

Tiny baby batlings!

Seriously, Mourdock? Seriously?

So the headline sucks on this one but the video (at 25 minutes a little long but worth it) is a must watch. This is Lana Wachowski’s HRC speech. This is touching, heartfelt, intimate, and honest. As a parent, I can’t imagine knowing my child, even as lucky and privileged as they are (as Lana was and is) went through such agony inside. Makes you realize when the lucky folks are tormented so, that those without support are suffering so deeply. So much in this piece about personal sacrifice, courage, allowing the true self to be visible (something very personally important to me currently) and family. Also? Lana is hilarious and adorable, just sayin’.

Have a good weekend and I hope I’ll have some cool photos from Vegas, baby!
