Spring Things That Happen In Austin

A pictorial post about prominent public phenomena.

Artichokes are growing in my neighborhood.

I’ve been walking by one particular house each morning and this is what artichokes look like when they aren’t being harvested to eat, steamed with butter and sea salt.

There are art festivals, like Fusebox Festival, where I’ve been blogging about Maenads on the Lawn of the Long Center, and talking into the night on 5th street

There are art festivals for some amazing kids, at the Chula Big Artists Little Artists Program. I’m impressed with my son’s love of zombies.

There are MORE festivals to attend (or in my case, to miss because I’m booked solid with my own planning for ANOTHER festival, The Ladies Are Funny Festival). Here is a link to my co-producer Kerri Lendo, getting to interview the sexxxxay Seth Meyers at Moontower.

And there are rallies. Protest Rallies. Rallies wherein women and men protest the seriously weird pushback against reproductive rights, contraception and personhood amendment. I was honored to emcee this rally, on the Capitol Steps, introducing our congressional leaders as they spoke with passion about the issues. Dawnna Dukes, Lloyd Doggett, Jim Rigby, Genevieve Van Cleve, Kathy Miller, Perla Cavazos and Susan Haney, you are amazing.

All in one weekend. All in one weekend.
