Marriage Equality

Yesterday, several protesters here in Austin, TX went to the Travis County Clerk’s office to push back against their inability to offer same sex marriage licenses. They were arrested. I was pleased to see this. It may seem old fashioned to some (and more dangerous than back in the day since protesters aren’t treated nearly as well since 9/11) but it was awesome to see some non-violent action in action.

KXAN has the story here, and it was reported by Equality Texas and Get Equal.

Meanwhile, over in Italy, this amazing video is making the rounds. It’s sweet as hell and filled with the most human of desires-connection.

No matter if you want to marry or not, there are rights imbued in the legal structure of marriage. People should have the right to join, be protected, form families without fear of harassment, job loss, or lack of insurance.
