A Little Light Reading

I am on a tear right now.

I’ve got about eleventy books to read, none of which are easy bedtime snoozy book material, and no time to read them.

First up is “The Revolution Will Not Be Funded” which are essays about Foundations, Non-Profits, Social Change and whether or not that combination leads to change at all. Given that I’ve worked most of my career in non-profit focused organizations, this is going to give me a great deal of things to think about.

Next, a few books by Augusto Boal, because that’s the intersection for me right now. Theater and activism. And I’m a big behind in my studies in that arena!

Finally, I bought a book called “Sexuality And Socialism“, and let me tell you I need to read a few books before I can read this book. It’s pretty amazing stuff and pulling in the questions of biological determinism vs social conditioning is very interesting to me.

As for fiction, because of my involvement in Showdown, I’m re-reading some Westerns. Hard stuff.

I think I need some brain candy! What’s your favorite “should read at the beach” book?

You should check out Salman Rushdie’s The Enchantress of Florence…if you haven’t already. Best explained (with only one cup of coffee)it is a sensual winding tale of an Italian noblemen sold at sea who holds the tale of a mysterious princess…so good, and so non-committal is this book, that your hand ends up reaching for it as you slide into bed…try it out! Love Baol, we should talk…Ann from Amsterdam
